More pictures!

More pictures! yay!!! Here is a shot of two women drying out a sari after bathing in the ocean. The picture was taken in Kanyakamuri, the place where three seas meet- Arabian, Indian, and Bay of Bengal. The waters are considered very holy for this reason, and we saw tons of people bathing there. In the background is the statue of a famous Indian poet (written about earlier). This statue is known as the "Statue of Liberty" of India. Behind the statue is a temple dedicated to the Wandering Monk- he swam out there on one of his many spiritual adventures. This was one of our favorite towns so far!
This photo is quintessential India: a cow munching on some garbage with a huge, fancy skyrise hotel in the background. I couldn't have summarized India any better myself, this photo says it all.

Sunset at a Hindu temple in Thanjavur. This temple is listed as a World Heritage Site, and it deserves that distinction. The late afternoon and evening we spent here was one of our most "mystical moments" in India yet.
Stay tuned for more....tomorrow we head out of Varkala, the sunny beach spot we chose for Matt's recovery. We take a 36 hour train tomorrow to head north. So, more to come in about week. Matt is feeling much better, even though it is hard for him to talk because when he does half of it is a cough. Poor thing! At least he is up and about, that is a good thing. I am sure just one more day on the beach will do us both some good! Right? Right!!!
