As many of you know, Miss Shasta could not join us on our travels this time around. We just had a heck of a time getting a visa approved. Who knew? So, luckily Matt's parents very kindly agreed to watch over her while we are away. I know that Shasta's Corner was one of the most popular elements of the blog in Alaska, and I am pleased to say we are in luck! Matt's mom reported in from Tennessee with a Shasta update, here's what she had to say:
Date: Friday, January 16, 2009, 11:25 PM Shasta's been meaning to write and check in but as Gene was saying tonight we all wonder how to tell you the truth without hurting your feelings. We think Shasta just loves it here. She and Blair (Blair is the Smitherman family dog, a lovely lady chocolate lab) are famous cousins. She eats all her food. She LOVES her morning walk in the yard checking the fenced perimeter with Blair(occasionally she sleeps in instead). And best of all it's been colder than Alaska here - literally. This morning it was 10 in Chattanooga and 32 in Anchorage. I let the girls out for a few minutes then went back to bring them in. Blair was at the back door begging and Shasta was nowhere to be seen. I had to go out and find her basking in the morning frosty air. We've had to put a few toys in the basement to facilitate Shasta's joyful rumpity when she comes in from the yard. She loves to run and play and prance around down there. Then it's a bound up the stairs and a flop in the dining room to join us for breakfast.
Fantastic! I know Shasta fans everywhere will be happy to hear she is happy and healthy in her new role as a Southern Belle.
It somehow seems to fit her, doesn't it? :)
