The Northern Lights!
Matt is known for giving me the best birthdays ever, but this year he really went above and beyond. Apparently, he had some sort of conversation with Mother Nature. After all the fun stuff we did all weekend, the Northern Lights came along and outdid everyone and everything. Just as we were going to sleep on the night of my birthday, there was a knock at the door. We had asked to be on the "Northern Lights Wake-up Call" list provided at the hotel, and that is what the knock was about. "The lights are out!" we heard on the other side of our hotel door. We jumped up quickly, put on warm clothes, and headed out. At first I thought it was a false alarm, but then Matt noticed a faint glow in the distance. We walked towards the glow and the Northern Lights were revealed. We stayed out for about an hour, watching them get stronger and fading over time. Matt took a few pictures- and although the camera captured much more than I expected, it really does not do it justice. Anyway, here is a glimpse of what we were so lucky to see that night:

Fantastic! Maybe turning 35 isn't so bad after all. I am going to take these lights as a good omen for the year ahead!
