The boys went fishing the very next day. Here's Matt catching a "humpy" , i.e. pink salmon. Those are the kind of salmon they use for canning- our neighbor told us they sell for 5 cents a pound. Yuck!
Our neighbor also told the boys that he hadn't caught a silver salmon in five years, which is saying a lot since he is quite the fisherman. Pat caught one ten minutes later- beginner's luck, OR is Pat a real Alaskan that happens to live in Michigan? You decide...
We went to this beach during the day on the first day- it is called Bishop's Beach, and it is about a 45 minute drive from our place. I had never been here- that is one of the great things about having visitors, you get to see new stuff!
We also took them out to meet the sled dogs owned by one of the doctors at Matt's clinic. Here's Jann getting a warm Alaskan welcome!
